From Dream to Reality:  Story of Immigration to Canada

Life is not about the destination; it is all about the journey. A line that suited the ups and downs of the journey, but the journey is far more beautiful and thrilling than the destination, which I have to reach. Sitting on the bus that leaves the Don Mills station I am not able to stop thinking about the weight of the documents which I have in the folder—— they are quite heavy why these documents are heavy?

I was on the way home from a job fair in which I volunteered for the first time at Scarborough town center. Certificate of appreciation received from the city of Toronto a gift pack and a $5 reward I have these in my empty folder but they are still too heavy on my chest.

The certificate given to me is not more than a piece of paper for anyone else but for me, it is the fruit of my patience. I had been at Pearson International Airport exactly seven months and three weeks back when my family and I were given a red-carpet welcome as independent immigrants under the professional category.

We had finally reached our dream country after almost three years of painfully slow processing of our immigration application. I enjoyed spending the snowy winter in the basement, and in the spring, I participated in a number of workshops and training sessions to better understand Canadian culture and get ready for job hunting.

Thousand of jobs in Canada get posted every day but I was not able to apply to anyone because I don’t have any experience in Canada for this I have to suffer for a long time but in the end, I am able to reach what I deserve. With this experience certificate, I am able to rewrite my destiny and able to get the job that I have dreamed of for so long.

My dream has reached the base of reality and thinking about it gives me a sense of satisfaction and achievement after so long.

In the depth of my thinking, I hurried off the bus after barely missing my stop. I started to make my way back home, even though it was quite cold outside. To get home, it was only a short distance away. Before I got there, I was trying to console myself. My heart suddenly stopped feeling so heavy in my chest. But was it only vibrating? No, not my heart; Canada is thumping to the beat of my far-off dreams!
